LM Work
LM is the collaborative work of ceramic artist Leah Leitson and sculptor/designer Martin Tatarka. Through periodic studio collaborations, we create porcelain objects that bring together function, sculptural form, and visual narrative.
Created through a shared process of making, these works explore the relationship between form, surface, color, and imagery. Each piece reflects the intersection of our individual perspectives and a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, design, and the expressive possibilities of materials.
LM Artist Statement
LM is the collaborative mark of ceramic artist and educator Leah Leitson and sculptor and designer Martin Tatarka.
Our work is an ongoing conversation between ceramics and sculpture, function and form. While Leah often creates the hand-thrown porcelain vessels, Martin responds through surface, imagery, and design, allowing each piece to evolve through a shared process of making. At other times, our roles overlap and shift, with each of us contributing to every stage of the work.
We are interested in creating functional objects that carry a sculptural presence. Proportion, form, color, surface, and the relationships between these elements are carefully considered, resulting in pieces that invite both use and contemplation.
For us, collaboration is more than working together—it is a way of thinking and discovering. Each of us maintains an independent studio practice, but it is within our shared work that we find unexpected possibilities. The exchange of ideas challenges our assumptions, expands our individual vocabularies, and leads us to outcomes neither of us would arrive at alone.
